BETA 1.5 to be released October 12th Print E-mail
Monday, 02 October 2006

joomladay-de-2006-2Exciting stuff: Johan Janssens, Joomla's lead developer, just announced in Bonn, Germany at German Joomla!Day that the development team's slated October 12th as the release date for Joomla 1.5 BETA.

The new release has been eagerly awaited within the worldwide J! community as its code is completely re-written since the mambo days and will offer a brighter future for extensibility and standards compliance.

J! 1.5 will feature much improved internationalisation as stock - so people can manage multi-lingual sites more easily, plus feature right-to-left languages like Arabic!

Remote authentication through LDAP will make user management a lot easier, plus allow remote control of sites - which should be welcomed by anyone managing more than one J! install.

Its planned that this BETA will be the last release before a STABLE version, capable of securely running an active site with j! 1.5.
