Its an innovative listings site that allows freelancers, professional firms, job seekers and employers to fill out detailed profiles on their services as well as post job or gig listings (where 'jobs' are long-term/on-site positions and 'gigs' are typically short-term contracts). Membership is free and Joomla!Jobs is offering free gig listings through october while they run in BETA! If you work with Joomla and are interested in meeting like-minded people, we recommend checking it out and signing up today!
For the first time, a community of people actively, commercially interested in Joomla can interact with each other and develop working relationships - all through a single platform. This is exciting because it throws the stupid notion that 'contracts should be bid on' out of the window! J!J is commited to fostering a professional ethic in the community and that will only come when work is valued through personal relationships. Once you're a member on the site, you can:
Again, what's cool to note is that you don't have to place some silly artibrary bid for work - fill out a profile in truth with as much detail as possible and employers will be able to find you. As well, you can meet other freelancers who share interests and work together on projects etc.. For employers or firms looking for Joomla pros to do work, the system is great because all they have to do is post a job or gig and then peruse the profiles of all applicants right on-site; making the overall selection process easier and more intuitive than with bloated sites like monster . Ultimately, the success of this approach, and Joomla!Jobs in general, will lie in how many people become members who actually are passionate about using and developing with Joomla. As Joomla becomes a more popular platform for building websites, it seems J!J may be able to showcase the amazing talent that exists in our community and develop the market for Joomla services.
Great idea!
written by Frans Laarmans, November 12, 2006 It's one thing to have a cms where code is very structured. Sometimes you can look for hours while a pro can do it in a couple of minutes. Or at one point you have to outsource because you can no longer handle the workload. In that case Joomla!Jobs is great. Don't underestimate the power of the community. Best regards!
